I can't really tell when I take fish oil. But I can tell when I stop. I take one capsule a day. Whether it has any significant psychiatric benefits or not, I don't think so with me, but it is good for the brain anyway as well as the heart and cholesterol and stuff. I can't feel any effects when I take it, but if I stop taking it I feel like something just isn't quite right. Hard to explain.
