Pain is horrible. Sorry you were in such pain. :-( My pain has gotten a lot better yesterday and today. I'm not taking Advil as much. I just have to avoid chewing and sweets now.
I'm not on the brink of suicide. I was just having passing thoughts when the pain got bad and from the stress of this whole situation.
> Tylenol and Advil don't help. See if your GP or Dentist will Rx a really strong anti-inflammatory for you till you can get it done.
I got a prescription for ibuprofen 600mg. Three Advils would be the same.
> In the meantime can you call any university with a dental clinic, any DMD to see if they also do root canals, every oral surgeon, and every endodontist. July is too long to have to wait. Have you told your dentist how painful it is - tell him you NEED relief!
Right now it's not too painful. It was two days ago. I would still prefer not to wait so long though. I want to be able to eat! I called the dentist again to see if there were other endodontists, they only gave me one other phone number to call. I think I need to see an endodontist because my tooth may be cracked and I guess the root canal procedure will be complicated. Meanwhile I'm on the cancellation list.
> I just had some dental work today - took 4 hours, cried for 2.(((((fairywings)))))
I hate dental work too. :-(
>It seems almost barbaric compared to the rest of healthcare procedures. But it is better than suffering with it. I"m sorry you're in so much pain...go to who ever you have to, to get some relief.
I think I might call my original dentist again and see what he recommends.
> When I had the horrible tooth pain, I needed my gall bladder out, but bec. of meds for tooth pain, couldn't have it done, so I suffered with both for 3 months.(((((fairywings)))))
> The ENT told he was irresponsible, and referred me to another dentist...a good dentist. The first one was an idiot.
The first dentist couldn't give me a diagnosis. He just gave me antibiotics and said I grind my teeth. I went to another dentist for a second opinion. This dentist said I probably cracked my tooth and need a root canal.
> Picked up all my records, and x-rays, went to the new dentist, got my root canal, and then went through the dental society to get my $1,000 back from the first - which gave me so much satisfaction. And then he actually had the nerve to say, "you understand this ends our professional relationship" No sh*t dude!
That's really great that you were able to get your money back. You were very resourceful to contact the dental society.
> I hope you can find someone to Rx meds, and then find someone to fix this pain more quickly than July!Me too!
> BTW, I've never been to an endo who had to do a consult first. Do your dental x-rays show you need it?
My dental x-rays don't show anything wrong, (except that I grind my teeth) but I still have pain. The dentist said that cracked teeth don't usually show up on x-rays. The root canal will be complicated due to the cracked tooth, so I need the endodontist to do it.
