Poet, so sorry you're feeling so sad. Is this something you have been thinking about for a while or quite sudden? Wouldn't you like to think about it while still in therapy for a few weeks, then you can make a considered decision which is not just based on your current mood. I sincerely hope its the right decision for you, but I suspect you need more time to think it over. One of the things that has triggered this is your pdoc asking you about progress in therapy...but progress in therapy is a subtle thing and can be very hard to put into words, so there may have been more progress than you think. In any case, I hope you feel better soon.
