This has come up before, and there was a lot of discussion, and I kind of came up with some guidelines:

The main thing was (1) not to put down others or their beliefs and (2) not to pressure others.

People have all kinds of motivations. And just because someone doesn't understand at first and then is the voice of reason doesn't mean their initial misunderstanding was deliberate...
