I wouldn't be too quick to attribute everything your advisor says as brilliant.

The key to graduate school is being able to sort through the crap and get to the good stuff that will advance you toward your degree.

Look through your notes and see if there is some stuff that you just simply do not agree with. See what you DO agree with.

The advisors aren't always right, if I had a dollar everytime I let my grad school advisor waste my time, I wouldn't need the degree to support myself at all!

Trust yourself, get the information you need, think critically about ALL sources of information and then move forward.
