That does sound nice! When I was in graduate school, I had full tuition remission and a salary of about $18,000. That salary has since gone up to $24,000 for graduate students.

I will say, however, that is characteristic of only the advanced degrees in the medical sciences. All I had to do was work on my degree by doing research in the lab.

Students in the humanities have a much rougher go of it it seems. At least at my institution, I think tuition remission is available but their salaries are much less and involve a lot of teaching etc..
