> Surely you can't be suggesting that you would choose to lose weight due to the inability to eat because of ptsd and panic symptoms?

Surely I can't. And that's exactly what my paragraph said--"I'd ask for some of what Alii has that has kept her from eating for a few days, but it would mean I'd have to be going through what she's going through, and I don't think I'm strong enough."

> Fasting for religious, personal, health, etc. reasons are fine for *some* individuals.

I agree.

> There isn't anything desirable about this weight loss or inability to eat.

Indeed there's not. That's just what I said--that I wouldn't trade the misery for the weight loss. I wouldn't be strong enough to handle the stress that you're going through. I'm a wimp about things like that. I whine when I miss sleep.

> I tried eating earlier today something simple to see if my body would accept anything but it wouldn't keep. So not eating not by choice but instead due to flareups in my diseases is a whole 'nother ball of wax than just saying hey I'll do a new year's fast and drop weight like there's no tomorrow.

Yes, that's obvious--to me and to most people.

> So I admire anyone striving to better their health and improve their feelings about their body but I hope that everyone checks with their health care provider first before beginning any diet or exercise program.

I don't think I've ever checked with my doctor before I started exercising after a hiatus. I hope totally inactive people will follow your advice, though.

> Good luck with your 2003 WW. They are a good outfit. I have known many people who have benefitted from their programs over the years.

Yes, thank you. They've worked over the years. I don't think they are strict enough as far as insisting certain foods be eaten every day, but the very overweight seem to lose quickly. My twenty-pound loss has taken longer than most people's sixty-pound loss.

I'm sorry you misread my post. I would never say or imply that anxiety and total misery are great weight loss remedies and, in fact, said otherwise.

I hope you will be able to eat soon. I don't think I can tempt you with this Harry Potter sheet cake, but it's really delicious, and it's calling your name.

Oh, wait. It's calling mine. Sheesh. Better go answer it.
