Since this is a rare condition, it could be that even if everyone who got the condition had had a vasectomy, it would have implications that were irrelevant to the category "men who got a vasectomy." It might, if anything, be part of a differential diagnosis once you got the disease.
Plus, you 'd need to look at why men got the vasectomy, to know if there are other, unnoticed correlations that link them together.
Any way, the doctors speculation is just speculation.
