So very sorry to hear about your grandfather.
Have you ever watched 'Joan of Arcadia'?
The show this week was exactly about death, pain, grieving, 'what happens after', and why things happen the way they do.
Good show!
Take care of you during this time, you're never alone, the board's here for you, and my thoughts are with you right here on this board.
As far as 'How does one carry on living with the knowledge of what awaits us all?'--what I do is just carry on the only way I know how, maybe that would help you too ;-) I don't know what the future holds, so I try to make the most of the here and now, as 'cliche' as it may sound.
