When I was a young child, around 9, my mother's friend gave me a little guitar pin. It has colorful little stones, and the background is turquoise. She gave it to me because she knew I wanted to play the guitar. She was an encouraging and artistic lady, and as a child, she was the only significant adult in my life who was positive and kind to me. The pin is very small. It could have gotten lost a hundred times over, but I've never lost it. It's uncanny. It never breaks, it never gets lost. The guitar pin is my sacred object. The lady who gave it to me passed away a couple of years ago. It awes me to think about how many lives she touched in a positive way.
