your sacred objects?

does anyone have an object that reminds them of their spirituality, or of some important truth that they hold? i have this perfect, egg-shaped stone that fits firmly in my hand. it is heavy, and just has a weight that makes me think of how space, existence is something to be thankful for. it is a little hard to explain logically, it's just that when i hold it in my hand i get a sense of calm, quiet that i associate as part of what it feels like to be completely RIGHT. i know that there are certain items, like crosses and rosaries, that have traditional religious significance, but how do you relate to it personally, on a one to one basis?

I have a few sacred objects. Like you, I have an egg-shaped stone. It's even white.

I also have a green glass paperweight, round, with a flat bottom and bubbles floating through it--the old-fashioned kind of paperweight. It belonged to my grandmother, and, when I was little, I used to pretend it was a crystal ball. I still pretend that and ask it questions sometimes!

My grandmother's jewelry is also sacred. Each Jewish holiday and each year around my grandmother's birthday, I get this weird calling to put it on without realizing the connection to the holidays. I just get this urge to wear it, and then I look on the calendar and notice.

When I was a young child, around 9, my mother's friend gave me a little guitar pin. It has colorful little stones, and the background is turquoise. She gave it to me because she knew I wanted to play the guitar. She was an encouraging and artistic lady, and as a child, she was the only significant adult in my life who was positive and kind to me. The pin is very small. It could have gotten lost a hundred times over, but I've never lost it. It's uncanny. It never breaks, it never gets lost. The guitar pin is my sacred object. The lady who gave it to me passed away a couple of years ago. It awes me to think about how many lives she touched in a positive way.

I have quilts and a teddy bear made for me by my favorite grandmother when I was less than 5 years old. I also have small stones with quartz crystals on the outside that I gathered as a child on my family's farm. I have moved away now but those are my reminders of home. Maybe "sacred" is too strong a word, but precious definitely fits.
