The primary effects of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) are antihistaminic and anticholinergic. Or at least those are major effects of the drug as well as serotonin reuptake inhibition. (I think it may be a 5-HT2 antagonist as well??).
I believe the same is also true for chlorpheniramine.
