It seems that altough zinc and other NMDA antagonists seem to reduce tollerance to many beneficaial drugs, they will also reduce the activation of the medium spiny neurons in the neucleus accumbens. Ie, When I took Ritalin, magnesium helped poop out, but it abolised and subjective mood improvement by the med. Subjective mood improvement is likely a result of glutamate activity in the NAA.
