Hi Sarah -
I would say it is a slightly calming feeling - although sometimes I notice I am a little more talkative after taking it, which is odd if it is calming.
What I do notice is that my coordination seems to be better in tennis - also the game flows more and my timing of the ball is better.
The depression is just a sense of lowness and feeling slightly annoyed, although I can't remember that well as it has been a long time since I 'od'd' on it.
I have never noticed it interfering with my sleep, but then I have chronic sleep problems anyway (which are at last improving).
One other point - when I first started on fish oil my various inflammation problems continued (eczema, psoriasis, back problems) for A LONG TIME - even on high dose EPA. After 5-6 months, they suddenly started to get better. This ties in with lecithin - because when I first started to take it in conjunction with the fish oil, I found I got an allergic reaction to it if I took to much (flushing, itchiness - made eczema worse). These days, voila! No such problems, even if I take over one capsule.
I could be wrong, but I think it has taken a long time for the fish oil to really start working - although mentally I started improving upon the first dose, which really was quite amazing.
I think it is a great brain nutrient anyway; I seem to recall one poster here who swore by the combination of fish oil and lecithin for improving if not resolving his agoraphobia and OCD.
