Lamictal will almost always cause rashes the first 100mgs or so, if you even look at a bar of scented soap you're probably going to have a rash. The freak out part is if you have an itchy rash and are running a fever. If you dont catch that the next phase is you start getting blisters around your mouth thats the "go to the ER right now do not pass go and do not collect $200" phase.
I took my temperature at least twice a day those first 150mg or so. The fact that lamictal causes these weird rashes at the begining not only drives patients crazy but also doctors because everyones so paranoid about S-J syndrome.
The actual statistics of you developing it are astronomical. I know someone will post that they had it just because they had a rash, thats not S-J syndrome.
The upside and irony of lamictal is that often during titration periods it flips people into hypomania. Its effect in higher doses during titration feels like a stimulant to me its almost identical to certain dopamine based stims.
