Matt, Thanks for answering me, I was hoping you would. You really have cleared up a lot for me. I now know why klonopin had such a dulling effect on me. I have been on a benzo since my 20's and never abused or went up on the rx'd dose. As they came into popularity it was first valium, ativan, xanax, and then klonopin which made me dull. I recently started seeing an older pdoc. Her name is Judith S. Yongue. You can search her name and you will see the numerous psychiatriac boards she reviews for and articles she has written. She once again put me on valium. I take a total of l5mg a day divided. She believes in the older drugs and the fact that they've been around so long. My mind has been changed by my 30 some odd years of benzo use, and I'm just grateful that I never abused them and valium still works. In the past as my anxiety abated I was able to cut down on the valium even while attending RN school, running a business, and going through a divorce with 3 children at home. I'm hoping that now I will again be able to get back to nursing [as I love it] and work at least part-time. I worked all aspects from ICU ,ER, Med-Surg, Telemetry, CCU Peds, etc. and then went to my love psych. My thyroid went and I went through menopause, chronic lymes disease, and a lot of life changes. I think and hope new Docs will listen to their pts and work together with them to decide on a medication regime, and not just go with what is popular. You sound like that kind of person and I know you will be empathetic as you have "walked in the shoes". Look forward to hearing from you. Fondly, Phillipa
