I have high anxiety as well (severe GAD & Agoraphobia). Recently I got off of Effexor in the past four months and switched to Buspar and 2 mg of Klonopin. The Klonopin works really good for me. It gets me out of the house and able to function, however, I have noticed that it really depends on how you react to it. The 2 mg doesn't even make me a little tired. It makes me feel normal, whereas I know other people that are loopy for two days after taking a 2 mg tablet...so Idon't know....try and see how your body feels taking it at different times or maybe you need a higher dosage. I dont' take mine everyday- only when needed....which is close to every other day but at least not every day...lol
Anyways....follow your OWN intuition seriously. A doctor only knows so much and unforutnately we are just numbers to them. No matter what they do not know what is going on in our heads and everyone is completely different. Some get hooked on these drugs and soem don't. Some benefit from the drugs and others don't.....hope that helps a little.
