i've been doing research on freon. I have to say when i was younger, the cars that i rerember their air conditioning was ultra cold, then in the mid 90s they transitioned over to r-134a, it blows cool air, and in hot hot summer days it takes a long time to notice a difference. r12, if anyone here had air conditioning a long time ago, it was colder back then
i really wish they would bring back r12 to cars....but it's environment toxic, goodness maybe they can study and make a refrigerant that is colder than r-12 refrigerant because heat in the summer, it was so nice

i don't know much about refrigerants, i might need to go to a mechanical website to learn more about it....i just want Freon back, when they transitioned over to r-134a, it does cool but it's not as efficient, R-12 freon was the best for blasting it on with freezing cold air... today generation will never know the wonders of air conditioning in cars before 1993

Freon was one of a number of refrigerants and propellants known as CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) whose use destroyed ozone in the upper atmosphere, causing a hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica. Ozone blocks the most dangerous of the sun's rays. Under an international treaty, countries agreed to phase-out and ban CFCs. Since then, other non-CFC refrigerants have been devised which are just as effective. Propellants have not been replicated, but have been replaced with non-aerosol sprays.
I find air-conditioning is just as cold as ever and is getting better and better without damaging the ozone layer. Still contributing to global warming though.

they did also away with R22 which was the freon used in housing air conditioning, the've phased it out and use puron and couple other ones. Banning the production of it, only recycled r22 would be around older air conditioning units. But it's CFC too. What im reading on these websites, i don't want to post all of them be frivolous, is that r22 and r12 are very efficient, that the newer non CFC are as efficient, it says that on some websites, because the're chemically different and have different, the newer ones use synthetic oil in them
r12 just seemed cold in cars, i went on automobile websites and had a discussion about older cars before 1993 having cold air conditioning. There using Puron right now, in housing air conditioning. It's more expensive than r22 units, but will be the standard soon for air conditioning
