they did also away with R22 which was the freon used in housing air conditioning, the've phased it out and use puron and couple other ones. Banning the production of it, only recycled r22 would be around older air conditioning units. But it's CFC too. What im reading on these websites, i don't want to post all of them be frivolous, is that r22 and r12 are very efficient, that the newer non CFC are as efficient, it says that on some websites, because the're chemically different and have different, the newer ones use synthetic oil in them
r12 just seemed cold in cars, i went on automobile websites and had a discussion about older cars before 1993 having cold air conditioning. There using Puron right now, in housing air conditioning. It's more expensive than r22 units, but will be the standard soon for air conditioning
