I think my pdoc really hates Risperdal. She's been wanting me off it forever and now she wants me off it asap. I'm down to 0.25mg now.
I feel like she might be keeping some things from me to prevent me from being anxious.
Is Risperdal really bad for health? Can it mess up my TSH (thyroid)?
I'm having some trouble sleeping (I'm never up this early! LOL) Will my sleep go back to normal?

has she recommended a replacement? Or does she just want you on your antidepressant(s) from now on? (I forgot the rest of your med combo)
Risperdal is kind of rough, as atypicals go. Elevated prolactin levels, weight gain, a relatively high amount of EPS and I think its got more TD with long term use than, say, zyprexa or abilify or...pretty much any other atypical. But a lot of that depends on your dosage.
Have you tried an anticonvulsant?

I haven't.

You may want to ask her about lamictal. It really seems to have a lot of mood stabilizing properties to it. It's also very inexpensive, and one of the safest meds.. as long as you take it real slow and don't get the rash. It also has no problem being combined with ssri's.Solstice

How do you define "now"?
Not that long ago you didn't seem fine at all.

I don't mean that in a negative sense, but I wonder if she gets a true picture of your wellbeing when she sees you so seldom. You do seem to swing quite a bit.
Just a matter of weeks ago, you were posting about self injurious dieting behavior. You were obsessed about medical matters to a greater degree than you often are now.
By the time you went to see your therapist, you may have been cheerfully saying that antidepressants have changed your brain for the better and that you're a happy happy person now.
From an external perspective, your recent swings appear to be closer to the sort of posting you used to do before you stabilized on medications and through really hard work that you should be proud of. When people see huge swings like that in presentation, mood disorders spring to mind.
I don't know if your posting presentation mirrors your real life. But I think many Babblers will notice a difference between with and without Risperdal. And I'm not sure your pdoc will get that opportunity.
This is the end of the thread.
