Today at work there was a man who was very mean to me. Usually when people order something with a lot of requests (e.g. more rice, no vegetables etc.), I clarify by repeating their requests. This man said, "LISTEN to me!" Then he said, "All you people are the same, you never listen."
I don't think he was being very civil. :-( I was so upset I could barely hold back my tears. I was so very upset. I'm not used to people speaking harshly or yelling at me. There is one good thing though, I did not automatically want to die.
I saw some little birds today. I thought it was amazing how they fly with such agility. They zoomed over the ground with such speed! It looked like they were going to touch the ground.
I wish I knew what it was like to be a hamster. Hammy is so carefree and lazy. He is sprawled out, exposing his, um, private areas because it is very hot. It's so funny. My hamster is a male Syrian hamster so his testicles are, um, huge.

My goodness!! I had about 20 hamsters in my life and I don't think I ever noticed their testicles! Ah to be a hamster, to burrow away in some nice cedar chips and pack away some sunflower seeds in your cheeks for later, that is the life!!

Wow! 20 hammies! = love(20) + cuteness(2000)
Hehe, they have gigantic packages...not the dwarfs (genus Phodopus), except the Chinese dwarf (genus Cricetulus).
Here's a link to some info and cute pics of dwarf hamsters:

>Ah to be a hamster, to burrow away in some nice cedar chips and pack away some sunflower seeds in your cheeks for later, that is the life!!
Eeeek! Cedar chips are a no no...aromatic oils that are nice and smelly for us are very bad for hammies. Pine is much better but some hammies are allergic. Aspen is what I use...very nice for hammies to play with and is very safe...still some hammies might still be allergic. Carefresh is the safest and most comfortable for hammies...it is expensive though, I use it only for hammy's "bedroom/nest."
Hehe, don't you just love it when they totally stuff their cheeks?...looks like they are going to explode!
I haven't been able to get a hold of a digital camera (my sister has it and she's away at school), so I can't put a pic up of Hammy. I did find a pic that looks just like my Hammy.
Go to:
http://www.geocities.com/pets_hamsters/
and the hamster at the bottom of the page on the grass looks just like my hamster.

That conjures up a funny scene...they'll have to use super small tea cups. lol
It's nice to know that they get to fulfill their destinies and their ultimate goal in life...to reproduce.

hi Deneb,
I'm sorry about the mean customer! Welcome to the dark side of service...the rude customers. Wouldn't it be cool if you could give him a PBC or a block? (ha!) I hate it that some people think they can be a******s (you know what word I mean, right?) to others. I think you're doing a great job at work from how you describe it, and you don't deserve that kind of treatment.Do your Uncle or the other workers have advice on how to handle jerky customers? I'm sure they've encountered people like that before.
When he said "you people" did he mean restaurant workers, or do you think it was a racial slur about Chinese people? Could you have refused to serve him, or would that have meant bigger trouble? I hate him for you!
On other news, my dog lies around like Hammy does, exposing his, er, privates. He just lies there all blissfully and naps, completely carefree. What a life, right?
take care!
hope you get better customers tomorrow.

> hi Deneb,
> I'm sorry about the mean customer! Welcome to the dark side of service...the rude customers. Wouldn't it be cool if you could give him a PBC or a block?Yep. :-) I wouldn't want to block him or anything though...maybe a fine. ;-)
...then again, what would that world be like?...utopia, or something else?
>...I hate it that some people think they can be a******s (you know what word I mean, right?)
Hmmm...I actually really don't! Maybe I'm too naive and innocent. O:-)
> Do your Uncle or the other workers have advice on how to handle jerky customers? I'm sure they've encountered people like that before.
My uncle's way of dealing with troublesome/rude customers is to assume that they are "crazy," or "not normal." I'm actually a little offended by this.
> When he said "you people" did he mean restaurant workers, or do you think it was a racial slur about Chinese people?
It did cross my mind that it might have been a racial slur, but I choose to think that in this day and age people are not like that anymore. I assume he meant restaurant workers, but to me that is just as terrible.
>Could you have refused to serve him, or would that have meant bigger trouble? I hate him for you!
Being me, I just apologized for "not listening". I don't want to fight rudeness with more rudeness. I wouldn't want to reinforce his view of "our people." Perhaps too many people have taken advantage of him and treated him unkindly in the past to cause him to be so offensive.
I stick to my motto..."Empathy for *all* people."

Ah...yep. :-)
To have such a sweet, caring and wonderful master.thanks JenStar

ooo...marble..how awesome...it's my favorite...want to go to Greece some day and get a marble-overdose from just looking at it all...

ahhh..I can almost feel it now...wish I could, too, but I wouldn't look so cool, or comfy....more silly, large and lumpy...<sigh>
ps - I just love reading your posts, jyl! :-)

they are adorable aren't they? Thanks for the links. I haven't had the little guys in years now. I bought one once that was pregnant, gave them away, then the ones I had left got each other pregnant. I had no shortage of them to the dismay of my parents. Baby hamsters are so cute (once they have fur). I really love those hamster balls, and the little hamster communities you can build out of the plastic tubes, and the wheels!!! They used to run on that wheel all night!! May hammy have a long and prosperous life.
