Thank heavens

Posted by Dinah on October 30, 2006, at 13:36:40

I'm getting something from my doc for what I'm sure is an oral yeast infection. Blech. In a few short hours I might have relief from the pain of the last couple of weeks. I could do the happy dance. Or at least that's what I hope it is or I'm back to the old drawing board.

Gee, being happy I'm 200 pounds, and hoping I have an oral yeast infection. Life sure is strange.

Of course, on the other hand everything won't taste like a salt lick, I won't feel so sick, and I'll be able to eat again. Drat. There goes my weight loss.

And my quarterly blood glucose levels were fine!! I don't understand that. They were 6.5. Maybe I need to recalibrate my glucometer...

If I ever see my doctor again, I'll ask her if maybe it's because only my fasting levels are out of line, while the midday ones are ok.

I don't know how that doctor makes money. She sends me for tests, calls me with the results, and changes my medications, then sends me for tests again. All without seeing me! I haven't seen her in nearly a year, while I've had blood tests and meds changes every six weeks for that year.

I'm glad that you're feeling better - and it's strange how we come to understand that everything is relative, isn't it? I'm happier being moody and having a headache in exchange for sleep and relief from hot flashes.

I wonder if your recurring issues with yeast might be helped by taking a probiotic of some sort, to give the "friendly" bugs in your system a better chance of keeping the yeast in check. Is your yeast an overgrowth of Candida? (that's the only yeast I know the name of, besides baker's yeast, ha ha.) I have taken probiotics in the past when I've had such problems. My local health food store keeps them.

I'll look into the probiotics. I've heard good things about them.

It's amazing how narrow one's world can become. I spent two weeks with my world mainly limited to my mouth and my work. Such a narrow narrow focus.

The instructions are a bit depressing. It says it could take days to work. :( Oh well. At least it's closer to working than it was when I avoided calling the doctor.

probiotics don't have to be that complicated. Start off with simple yogurt. Activia has a nice culture in it. Also, if you can get Kefir, in the yogurt aisle, it contains a lot of different lactose-cultures, even more different kinds than yogurt! (plus!!! It's YUMMY! on your cereal or whatnot)

hope you get some relief soon. sounds most unpleasant. (((((healthy mouth)))))

Lucky me. It did seem to be an oral yeast infection, so the medication started working really well after a few days. In fact today is the first day my mouth felt ok. And of course I forgot to take my medication. :)

I really need some sort of alarm implant, because I'm too good at ignoring the external sort.
