Boy Clear Skies thread made me think I have no goals. Maybe we each need to come up with a goal each day and if you say or post it you almost have to do it. Gee I can't think of one. Maybe getting out of bed tomorrow? Love Phillipa

Ok, tonight my goal is to get into bed right now, as soon as I send this post. Then I'll finish reading the chapter of the DBT workbook for tomorrow.
How's that?
(I'll let you know if I did this......... )
Ok--here goes!

My goal is to not try to do all my post-visitor housecleaning in one day. It took weeks for it to get this messy - I won't fix it all today.

My goal today is to clear a space and throw some rubbish away - it's not mine!

Sounds excellent. Let us know if you do it.
I've found it hard to impossible in the past, but I'm still working on the whole sleep rhythm problem. Last night, I did get off the computer when I posted, and got into bed fairly soon and read for a while. But then I was up for 2 hours at 5 am. Partly reading the Skills Manual for DBT--but I doubt the DBT people would approve of that use of their book.
So tonight, I'm going to start getting into bed at 10:30, and be in bed by 11 pm, and then try to get to sleep earlier, and then not be up for two hours in the middle of the night. And then get up by--well, depends on how the other part goes.

Well, I did the part about getting into bed by 11:20. Then I was reading a lot and didn't get to sleep until fairly late.
The odd thing is I had the second outright nightmare I've had in the last three nights-- just now. And am awake again, and need to stay up for a while. If I don't, I always fall back into the same horrible dream.
Haven't had any nightmares for a long time-- so the first one was odd, but this begins to feel like a pattern. Wonder what/s up.
My goal now is to get back into bed. I"ve been up for 30 min (it's 6:30 am here). It's starting to get nice outside. I can see a tug boat pulling a red barge up the river.
Hope this is a strong enough change of mental scene.

They are so powerful and resilient aren't they? I should model myself after one of those. Slow and easy. Steady and forward.
I see a lot of very short term goals here which is interesting because that is about all I am capable of myself otherwise I get discouraged. My very short term goal will be to start a new thread and then send Babblemail to llrrrpp because she is a dork. I have been bothering her on her vacation with Babblemail. Hee hee.
So that anyone doesn't get the wrong idea (i.e. uncivility), the dork comment is for fun.

My goal for tomorrow is to not react in anger or get so frustrated that I have to walk away at work. I teach preschool and will have 16 four year olds tomorrow (only had 10 today). I have 2 assistant teachers, but one is often more problem than help, and she is the only one around during the craziest part of the day. It's very easy for me to forget they are 4 years old and get frustrated. Tomorrow, I will try to enjoy the kids and not fall apart in the process.
Just a note, I want everyone to know that by "react in anger" I do NOT mean hitting or anything at all inappropriate like that. It is really an internal process that probably doesnt show much (if at all) in my interaction with the children. It just tears me apart inside.

Okay. It's 5 am and I've been up for 45 minutes. Grrrrr. I hate being in bed. I hate needing sleep, why can't I feel okay w/out it?
I did go to bed early. So at least that part of it's working out.
Congratulations, Phillipa. You're doing great.
Wishingstar-- maybe you're mad at your T, and it's hard to take care of a lot of other people (even 4 year olds), esp. without help?

yes, and you forgot to mention that they're cute, especially when they age and get kind of tattered around the edges. and they have the cutest "toot-toot"
but, they don't have many tugboats in South Dakota, do they?

Aww! thanks curtm. I *AM* a dork. In fact, I actually am wearing a t-shirt today that says "geeks are hot" and feeling kind of self-conscious about it, because only a DORK would wear such a t-shirt and :) (I know geeks and dorks are different. The difference is that dorks may be more interested in the human machine and geeks may be more interested in regular machines.
