Ooops, seems I messed that up!!

Sorry Lou.

Could you explain whether you feel one of the deputies has done something to cause impeachment?

I'm afraid I don't understand the words you used.. Miriam Webster found a similar spelling, but I am confused as to how you feel someone might be using a legal action in an illegal way

Lou, I think that a request such as you are making should be directed to Dr Bob via Babblemail, as I find the notion of implying that a deputy should be impeached quite upsetting.
Also, Dr Bob has already outlined in the FAQs that if you disagree with a deputy's decision that you should take it up with him privately (i.e. via Babblemail).

Making a poster into a deputy is not a decision that Dr Bob undertakes lightly, and the deputy in question (if I understand your gist correctly) has been doing a commendable job since at least 2002.
If I was the deputy to whom I think you are referring, I would be quite upset.
respectfully,
pc

PC,
You wrote,[...implying that a deputy{should} be impeached...].
It is not my intention by requesting that a procedure be written here for one to follow that a deputy {should } be impeached.
You wrote,[...and the deputy in question...]
I did not specify a deputy.
You wrote,[...whom I think you are referring...].
Could you clarify what makes you think that a particular deputy is being referred to and which?
Lou

Rather than reply to your post line by line, let me ask you this, then, Lou:
why are you making such a request for guidelines on the faith board instead of the admin board, if you didn't mean to make the request with regard to the threads you've participated in with deputies today?
Is this just a coincidence? I'm sorry if I am being too sensitive; but your request still does not belong on the board, according to the FAQs.

thanks,
pc

Hi Lou.

I imagine that if Dr. Bob thought a deputy had done something wrong, he would quietly admonish such deputy, and if the behavior continued would ask the deputy to step down. That's my guess anyways, as to my knowledge it hasn't happened.

I suppose that if you wish to convey to Dr. Bob that you think a deputy has done something wrong, you can do so on the admin board (keeping the civility guidelines in mind, as deputies are not exempt from them), or you can email Dr. Bob with your concerns.

If you're suggesting a procedure by which posters can vote to impeach a deputy, I think such a procedure would not be likely to be implemented. For one thing, Babble is not now and has never been a democracy. It's Dr. Bob's board.

But perhaps you can bring it up again with Dr. Bob when he comes back. Clearly it would be more effective to ask him to do something when he's actually here.

NikkiT2,
In your post above you wrote,[...could you explain whether you feel one of the deputies has done something to cause impeachment?].
My request to Dr. Hsiung for him to write a procedure that one can follow to initiate an impeachment of a deputy is for the future. None of the deputies have done something that could cause them to be wanted to be removed as a deputy by me.
I am requesting this procedure to be available so that one could follow it if needed by requesting that Dr. Hsiung define misfeasence, malfeasence and nonfeasence. Then if there is a well-defined meaning of these, then one could follow the procedure if those things occur.

Thanks,

Dinah,
You wrote in your post above,[...if you are suggesting...posters can vote...never been a democracy...when he comes back...when he is here...].
I am not suggesting that posters vote about this. I am requesting the procedure to be available if and when a need could arrise for such. Right now, I have no intention to email Dr. Hsiung to inniatiate any impeachment of a deputy. I am posting the request now because he is away and I have not seen him post here so I posted the request so that if he answers post in the order that they are on the board, then I feel that the sooner I post the request to him, the sooner my request will be addressed.

Nikki,
I see this community as like a a village of about 1000 people that has a town hall and some sort of administration to govern the community as to the standards set for its members. The town hall is run by, lets say, a mayor or what you would call that person in The British Commonwelth.
Malfeasance is when, lets say, the administrator does something wrong. It does not have to be something illegal. President Clinton could have been considered to commit malfeaseance.
Nonfeasenance is when the the person does not do what they are supposed to do according to their duties. If a fireman went to a fire and just looked at thje blaze and failed to open the hydrant and install the hose and fight the fire, then that could be nonfeaseance.
Misfeasance is when an action is taken that is against the policy established.
Lou

We have Mayors *g*

I'm not 100% they serve the same purpose, but I think they're pretty similar.. Ours lead our local councils - the local government areas, but tend to be more ceremonial in their duties. Cities are starting to elect their mayors - London has a mayor elected by the people, Ken Livingstone, and his isn't a ceremonial role (though we ALSO have a ceremonial mayor *l* very confusing I know!)..

Hope that all makes some sense!!

While you are at it Lou, perhaps you could come up for a plan for when the posting community feels that another poster should be removed from Babble? This would be some list beyond the list provided by Administration.

Sometimes a user causes so much uproar or hurt, but they follow all the admin rules. But in the end, they hurt the community as a whole by causing so much upset.

I've seen this happen several times. No, I don't care to provide examples, so as not to offend anyone.

In case you are also not familar with some or all of the terms Lou used, here are the definitions:

(I corrected the spelling of the three words per The American Heritage® Dictionary.)

Misfeasance - Improper and unlawful execution of an act that in itself is lawful and proper.

Malfeasance - Misconduct or wrongdoing, especially by a public official.

Nonfeasence - Failure to perform an act that is either an official duty or a legal requirement
