You and about 10 million other people in the same boat.
In this environment, you take what you can get and keep looking in the meantime. Waiting around for that career job is likely a very long wait. The people in line for that job will probably be several dozen or more, sometimes much more.
Career jobs are extremely few. So it is very thin pickings, if any at all.
There is nothing to stop someone from climbing the ladder rapidly except themselves. Example. With the proper motivation, desire, and performance, one can go from $8 cashier to $100,000 store manager in less than 5 years.
But of course, that rules out many of us including myself....the troubled motivation and rocky stability are heavy weights.
These aren't like any times any of us have ever seen.
I was always told though, if you're going to dream, dream big.
