Well of course it used to be a mental illness and then the committee that decides what goes in the DSM decided it wasn't, just like they decided not to put in 'innapropriate male aggression' and so on.
This doesn't even deserve the respect one might give to the concept of witchcraft, well maybe I'm too nostalgic.
