What's ironic to me is that there's billions of people who'd love to be able to not have their children work at a young age, but they're forced to, and children die because of overwork, and here where you have a choice, you can choose to do things otherwise, someone is still making the decision to work you to an early grave. Work you so you don't have time, work you so you don't have an opportunity to support yourself, to get an education ... it's seems such a waste when a little sacrifice for future security, that's what it's really all about, isn't it? The idea that you can get ahead, that you can provide security for yourself and your children and their children .. when those children are emotionally bereft, when they become the cold middle class adults you see so much nowadays, people wh have two incomes and two vehicles and big houses and not enough time for their kids .. it seems ridiculous.
But on the other hand, also, if that's all your family's known how to do, for generations and generations, is work work work nose to the grindstone everybody work, maybe because in another countrym a different past, that's the way it had to be, I can see where making the change might be a challenge. But it's sad that kids are forced to spend so much time in emotional poverty because parents can't change their priorities. When they actually have a choice, albeit a financially poorer one .. what the heck. I don't like our societal expectations at all. They s-u-c
