The Robber Bride

Posted by alexandra_k on December 20, 2004, at 16:17:24

In celebration of having gotten my applications in on time (well... come on NZ Post!!!) I decided to read a novel. Found this quote:

'This has been her problem all her life: picturing other people's responses. She's too good at it. She can picture the response of anyone - other people's reactions, their emotions, their criticisms, their demands - but somehow they don't reciprocate. Maybe they can't. Maybe they lack the gift, if it is one.'

Margaret Atwood "The Robber Bride" p.55

I know it isn't foolproof. I know heaps of trouble can come from thinking one knows what others will do without giving them a chance... But anyway, is it is gift - or a curse?

Maybe it depends on what you do with it?
(How personally you take it etc).
