I wrote a similar post on this a while back. I found that its definitely an anxiety related thing. Someone told me once, "yeah, its a crutch, but its a good crutch."
BTW, I recently quit. My meds were making me naseous and I couldn't tolerate a cig. By the time that was taken care of, I realized I had gotten past all the withdrawals and just stuck with it. Plus, I lost my job and didn't have the money to buy them. Its not the first time I quit, but I feel pretty good about it this time. I think I still associate the nausea with cigs.
There's plenty of worse things out there than smoking. I hate the self rightous idiots who think they need to tell others how to live their lives. I mean, who knows what 'their' crutch is!
