Good weight-loss book

Posted by bookgurl99 on May 8, 2003, at 11:39:42

Hey y'all,

i have really struggled with weight gain this year, as i know a lot of us on meds do.

i'm realizing part of the problem is that i was trying to follow a strict 1500 calorie diet, but it was very low fat. i would end up so hungry and unsatiated that i would be good all day and then eat a turtle sundae or box of cereal at night. (and i have to admit there were a few times i ate a whole large pizza alone over 2 days.)

somewhere recently, i stumbled across "The Schwartzbein Principle". This book has an eating plan in which one limits starchy vegetables, fruit, and refined carbs to 15 grams/meal, 7 1/2 grams/snack. There is no limit on non-starchy vegetables. Meanwhile, real fat and healthy fats are used to keep you satiated.

since trying this for a week, i've found that i no longer think about food in between meals. i'm not eating half the box of cereal at night, i'm just satisfied. and my energy level has gone way up.

so, if you have tried a lot of things and just can't lose weight, check it out.
