> what are liberal arts?
> I'm not kidding. I actually want to know. All of the "soft" subjects in a university, e.g., psychology, sociology, archaeology, anthropology, linguistics, political science, languages, literature, athletics, teaching, etc. Often biology, chemistry, physics, geology, and mathematics are included, and they too often have the same net result as Bobby said ("You want fries with that?").
As a comparison, here are some other groupings which are not considered "liberal arts":
- Business and accounting
- Engineering (electronics, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, civil engineering, etc.)
- Law
- Medicine, nursing, and pharmacologyAs a final note, most students of law, medicine, nursing, and pharmacology also have a liberal arts background and perhaps are even degreed at some level prior to beginning these fields.
