It's a word of Spanish origin. In the Spanish alphabet, there's a double ll (pronounced el-ye), as in the phrase "Me llamo...," which means "My name is...." but in that case, the word "llamo" is prounounced "yamo'. Llama can be pronounced with an English pronunciation "Lama" or a Spanish "Yama".
