Hi,

Homer is a black German Shepherd with blue eyes. So we think he may have husky or Australian Shepherd in him. People think he looks like a wolf! God forbid...that's the last thing I need: an unpredictable wolf hybrid. He about 90 pounds and has a mind of his own. He was found by the Humane Society tied to a fence in a backyard. He was on a two foot rope. There were about six other dogs tied up as well. Half were actually dead and the rest were incredibly sick. Homer was the healthiest and the only one to stay alive. He was kept as evidence in the case against this owner who abandoned his dogs. (Of course the case was dropped. Isn't that insane?) But Homer is probably two yet acts like a six month old puppy. His growth was probably stunted. He still does so many puppy-like things: puppy biting and chewing on us and things around the house, getting so excited when he meets new people he can hardly contain himself. He discovered his bark about four months ago. Now he barks at everything and at us when he wants to get our attention. But I love him to death.

I also have had pet rats for years. They have always been a source of comfort, but Homer really has made a difference. For those who don't know, pet rats are extremely smart, loving, affectionate and cuddly creatures. I used to have a female rat who would run around on my bed when I was at home. When I would cry she would run up to my face and start licking the tears away. Then she'd snuggle in my hair on my shoulder.

Fo those with dog allergies, I recommend a pet rat!

Sarah
