social anxiety and choosing a therapist

Posted by Angela2 on May 21, 2004, at 9:41:17

Should I try to find a specialized therapist for my social anxiety? My therapist does not specialize in social anxiety (my t is my pdoc) and sometimes I feel like she doesn't understand what I'm going through. I heard that behavioral-cognitive therapy works well for social anxiety, and its something I'm interested in pursuing. Does anyone else see a cognitive behavioral herapist for their social anxiety and does it work? If not, how do you handle/deal with your social anxiety? I'd really like to know.

Angela
