I'm not an ADHD or OCD expert, but I agree with you that she needs to be honest and open with the doctor. The way I think about it is this: If I don't give my doctor all of the information then he can't make the right decisions for my health. Maybe you can find out what she is afraid of. If she is afraid that the doctor will think they are nuts, the doctor has heard many stories like hers, and many worse. If she is afraid to admit it to herself (though it sounds like she talks about it with you), she can't move forward until she knows where she is. Is she unhappy with her life? With her son's life? It won't get better until it is treated. Best of luck to you. You are a good friend.

The weather stuff sounds like he needs to see a therapist to me. OCD or not, it sounds like it is interfering with his life.
