I am so sorry for your family's loss. I don't think you could have prepared your daughter for the news even though they hadn't visited for a while before your mother in law died. We all have to deal with our grief in our own way. I mentioned in a post to Sprigger that I was able to communicate with my dad before he died - yet I lived farthest away of us 4 kids. My oldest brother has only recently been able to talk at any length about our dad, and dad died in 1985! Just an example of how we each deal with death in our own, individual ways.

If your daughter is angry, maybe, over being out of the loop? I would also interpret it as an expression of grief.
Just my thoughts.
