I should think it's perfectly normal and part of readying ourselves for the inevitable. Having being given a window if you like, of preparing yourself and being allowed to start to process all your memories. It might be nice to share some of your early childhood memories with your dad now - it could help him put his house in order.

Although when my dad was dying he wasn't able to speak, I talked and he wrote some notes back that I now treasure. On reflection, I think it was a very special time we were given, to mull over the past together.

You're both in my thoughts.
