Flash was born Thursday, November 4, 2004.
The tiniest thing, half the size of his 5 robust siblings.
Friday I took him into my care: special formula, round the clock nursing and body warmth,
my foremost concern, my newest to share my love.
Saturday and Sunday were many indiscernable hours of dozing, nursing, helping him eliminate, keeping him warm.
Monday - this morning - about 2:00 am he was nursing, went stiff, and died.
Resuscitation failed.
This half-pound whole heart of love left his body.
I am broken.
There will be another break before this one heals to a touchable scar,
and this one WILL heal,
but now,
I am broken.
