Oh Jlynne, your post brought tears to my eyes. I too had a troubled mom. This line especially touched my heart:

"if it had been up to me I would have made you a princess in a kingdom full of love and happiness, and you would have been waited on and cared for, and everyone would have adored you."

I believe our moms finally have that now. In the end, my mom could no longer smile. She was simply too sad. But after her death, I was sure she smiled down on me. I could feel it, and decades later I still do.
