. . .well, I woudn't go *quite* that far. Lou's thinking - and I use the term loosely - if you really look into it, wade into a few of those posts about Kid_A, for example, were more like looking into the Dark and Disturbed, where the ability to love one's fellow man has long since fled. And I think, fascinating though that may be, we have to distinguish between work in the self and the outer reality, which is that minds like that are not a pretty sight. Where so much what we value in being human is. ..absent.
I trust the human sense. I mean, I trust that if a lot of good people are made uneasy by someone. . .there is a *reason.* And it doesn't *do* to just say, Adjust. Or, Be charitable. Be nice. It doesn't mean disrespecting Lou, either - but it does mean - and I think this is a difficult form of compassion - trying to see reality as it is, and charting one's course by that. If someone, for example, is a ill with paranoid schizophrenia, it is a disservice to pretend they have all their ducks in a row. . . People are so reluctant to play God when the situation *begs* for someone to, for a moment, adopt the role - in the sense of some shepherding kindness. A kind father. That's often what's needed - a kind and wise sort of fathering. A quality that seems to be disappearing from the landscape. . .making us all feel a little more lost. .
But I digress.
