In reply to glycine? will it make me depressed?, posted by sam K on August 21, 2009, at 2:12:52
Glycine does work. I've used it in the past before I was on a high dose of antipsychotic. You just have to be careful of the dosage. Too much glycine can bring on a depressive state. The best dosage that worked for me was about 3,000mg. I would suggest trying a low dosage, say 2,000mg, and see if that helps. Just for the record, 5,000mg put me in a depressive state, so be careful. Just the right dosage can really help, but I would caution people who are on high doses of an antipsychotic. If so, the glycine may not work well for you. I hated GABA. You're right. It makes you highly unmotivated. It's junk in my opinion. Glycine is a much better amino acid. Just be mindful of how much you take. Another amino you can try for bipolar if you are highly manic is N-Acetyl-cysteine. It is supposed to help, but may take a long time to see definite results. Good luck.
