personally i've found magnesium (i didn't take glycinate) to be an imperfect treatment for anxiety.

magnesium is a cofactor in the degradation of norepinephrine. too much norepinephrine can mean overstimulation, insomnia, etc. too little norepinephrine can lead to lack of energy, motivation, etc. i thought i could feel this when i took too much Mg.

this is just my personal feeling combining some experience and research. obviously your experience may vary.
