SAM-e: Very weak, tolerance develops quickly » eve70

In reply to SAM-e: could anyone report a real success? Thanx!, posted by eve70 on March 26, 2005, at 18:58:52

Eve:

I took SAM-e on and off for several months in 2001.
My experience can be summarized thusly: It has some anti-depressant effects, but they are weak, and tolerance developed quickly for me. I took doses at various levels from 800mg/day to 2000mg/day. At first, I got a very mild stimulating anti-depressant effect, but over a period of weeks, the effect became less and less noticeable. I read Richard Brown's book before taking SAM-e. Like all books written about these supplements, Brown made SAM-e sound really promising. But...it just wasn't so for me.

Hope that helps,
Chris
