Yes, a deputy will be getting back to you.

Please understand that several things can affect response time. Although not all of them would apply to your post, I'm going to explain some of them here for those whom they would apply to. Some of these issues will apply to your post, as well.

First, for anyone who does not have BabbleMail activated, please be aware that we cannot contact you in response to your notification. Deputies do not have any access to email addresses, and therefore can only contact you through BabbleMail. If BabbleMail is not activated, we cannot contact you, and those questions have to wait for Dr Bob.

Sometimes, none of us are available at the time that the notification comes in. We try to keep one another informed about availability issues, and I think we're pretty good about it, but there are inevitably times when no one is near a computer, or there are IRL time constraints, and then there will be a delay in responding.

One of the more frequent reasons for a delay involves the complexity of the issue at hand. If a notification involves an issue with precedents for comparison, we generally act as soon as one of us sees it. If the issue is more complex, or we're not quite sure whether it violates the guidelines, we'll take the time to discuss it amongst ourselves before acting.

Additionally, there's a matter of perspective. Sometimes different people will get a very different interpretation from the same post, which complicates the matter. For example, while the person who reports a post may believe it is clearly uncivil, another reader might not see a problem. In those cases, our discussions may take more time, because we try very hard to make the best decision possible to balance needs of individuals against those of the Babble community as a whole, while acting as we think Dr. Bob would act. Sometimes, that is fairly difficult, as you can imagine :-)

I hope that this explanation is helpful.
