I've noticed that a bit also. I suppose it's human nature for groups and cliques to form on a board where people hang out. The fact this is a public board complicates things. I think people can be lulled into a potential false sense of intimacy/community and thus, it can work in both ways - a feeling of being in the loop or very much out of the loop.
What I've noticed moreso is the disclosure of inside info - bits and pieces of information that have probably been a part "off site" discussions.
