Madeline,
The people at the Lighthouse were wonderful. But keep in mind (and this is a fact - look it up) that this is a state where they still display the Confederate flag on the grounds of the Capitol in Columbia. Even the ACLU fought to have it removed. The state government won't budge.
I used to love South Carolina. I loved the gardens and beaches. Yeah, even a lot of the people, though most of the ones I met were transplanted Northerners like me. (South Carolina girls are CUTE though !) I even bought property there. But now I couldn't bring myself to even set foot over the border again, maybe not even over the Mason-Dixon line (only a few miles from where I sit). I think about the hospital and what the police and medical personnel did to me and I sit in my chair and shake. I'm selling my property, partly because I'm nearly broke, partly because I can't go back. I can't ever return, because I'll never shake the memory of that one day. My dream of sandy beaches, fun in the sun, flowers and palm trees has been shattered forever. And I can't tell you how angry I am about that.
