What you did on the music board wasn't "troll" behavior.
I'm not up on internet slang but I think a troll is one who's focus is the site itself and not the purpose of the site.
For example, the troll wouldn't really care about music at a "music" site but be more interested in finding the site's weaknesses. It seems to me that the troll's goal is to slow down the site, provoke participants, and be as disruptive as possible.
For the troll it's not so much about disguising their identity - afterall, on the internet aren't we all anonymous? - but about disguising their real intentions.
Your intentions were sincere and somehow a misunderstanding arose. I don't think you were a troll. Perhaps, "they" were trolls.
Again, I'm behind the curve when it comes to the internet and the troll problem. I may not understand true troll dynamics but I suspect a "true" troll would probably have to disprove itself and cease to exist.
