As one of "these people" and a "them".......
....where else would I go? Do you have a recommendation about a place for people who have developed cyber-friendships HERE to go?
Maybe someone who makes the above statement does not actually have suicidal feelings, or want it around here. Probably the best lesson is to learn that (here at PB) making "suicidal threats" may end up with the police at one's door, and rightly so (IMHO). How better to learn a way to talk about intention (not threat, IMO) vs. ideation?
But, is it truly so detrimental? Do I have to go some other place just when things are so bad I do not think I can make it through the night--and want to say so?
A 'trigger' warning seems quite reasonable to me. But, to cast out somebody because they want to say they intend to harm themselves, is NOT reasonable, IMO. And, for anyone who's gotten a visit from the police, thank god they're still around to compliment or complain!
It would seem quite cold to me to tell somebody, "Well, you can talk about Feeling suicidal, but don't talk about it when you feel you are on the verge of doing it. 'K? Then, go somewhere else."
Well, in my experience, there isn't anywhere else. I know I can't talk to family about it, or friends (except a couple), and to take away my option of mentioning it here would be SO detrimental to me.

So, perhaps my opinion is too tainted by experience....but I think there should be a rule against posting suicide threats. It's too painful for the entire community.
