OK, those are good points, let's leave it in, at least for now.

> My former offer stands, if you wanted to transfer the older messages (2000, Jan-June 2001) it would save a lot of space, & they'd still be accessible. Thanks, but that would be complicated because old posts are still part of the system: other posts link to them, and people can still post from them. Hmm, but maybe the search function could be transferred? That might work...
> What about adding a line on the post confirmation screen asking people to consider deleting any part of the previous post that they don't need?Yes, but doesn't that go without saying? OTOH, I've also thought about making it an option, quote or don't quote, but that would add an extra step to the posting process. I wonder if that's worth it...
> I can't always get back to that screen after I've "submitted" a response. (It shows the posted message, but not my reply. Since my protracted computer problems, I don't tempt fate by trying to "fix" my first effort lest I lose it entirely.)That's another issue I think I can take care of, but haven't had time to yet. In the meantime, if it's not too much trouble, you could always, in the message box, "copy all" before you submit, so if it turns out you want to make a change, you can always just "paste" it back in...
Thanks for the input, everyone!
