That's because it's set to run at 4 am, when it's only half as busy:

and fewer people are likely to be disrupted.

If you're just looking for the posts between midnight and 4 am, you could use do "find" in your browser to look for "5/22" or whatever the date is...
Or, it's more involved, but you can also use the "Previous new indicators" button to reset the yellow tags. On the new main page, after you see that the old posts have been archived, click the button, then go to the archive. And maybe then click the button again? I can never keep it straight myself...
